Due to Covid restrictions VLV will hold its Spring Conference 2021 online.
At a time when the future of PSB is under scrutiny, we are delighted to announce that Lord Terry Burns, who recently stood down as Chairman of Ofcom, and Alex Mahon, the CEO of Channel 4, will be our keynote speakers.
The future assessment of how broadcasting delivers public service content across a range of platforms, rather than simply on TV channels, is a key issue in Ofcom’s ongoing PSB Review and a concern of the government. Both Lord Burns and Alex Mahon will be able to provide significant insight into this issue, since Ofcom has been considering future regulation of PSB for some time and Channel 4 has led the way among UK broadcasters in innovating on digital platforms.
At this event we will also hold a panel discussion on whether impartiality regulation is still fit for purpose and how it could be improved in light of changing media consumption trends. Jane Martinson, journalist and Professor of financial journalism at City University, London, will chair this session and she will be joined by a panel of speakers which will include award-winning newscaster Jon Snow.
We will be opening booking for the Spring Conference in due course and be sending out regular updates on speakers to those on our mailing list. Please do sign up to our mailing list if you would like to receive updates from VLV here.
