Toni Charlton was employed by the BBC for 35 years. She began her career as an apprentice, working her way up the production ladder via various training schemes to become a Television Outside Broadcast Producer, specialising in the coverage of major events, before becoming a project manager for BBC News and lastly a member of the management team for BBC Drama – three areas of programme making, which have continued to interest her most.
After leaving the BBC, Toni did a Masters degree in Communication, which enabled her to add a knowledge of broadcasting regulation and governance to her practical experience of working in the industry.
