Sophie Chalk – VLV Trustee

Sophie has worked as a broadcasting policy advisor since 2006, advising the International Broadcasting Trust and the Voice of the Listener & Viewer. Both organisations are concerned with maintaining the volume and quality of public service broadcasting in the UK. Sophie has worked to engage with government, broadcasters and regulators to ensure that citizens continue to benefit from a range of high quality content.

Prior to working in policy, Sophie worked for 17 years as a producer, director and reporter in television and radio. She worked for the BBC World Service and Radio 4, TV-am, GTMV, Sky News, Yorkshire Television and Jazz FM. In 1998 she helped set up the independent production company, Rooftop Productions, with the charity Christian Aid to make popular broadcast programmes about the developing world. Credits include commissions from the BBC and BAFTA-nominated children’s series Rooted for Channel Five.
