Sylvia Harvey is an academic and longstanding member of the VLV. She is currently Visiting Professor in Broadcasting Policy at the University of Leeds. She taught film and media studies at a number of British universities, specialising in public policy and national identity at the AHRB Centre for British Film and Television Studies. She has advised the Arts Council, the British Film Institute and Sheffield City Council, is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, Trustee of the Showroom Cinema and a founder member of Doc/Fest. In 2009-10 she chaired the Citizens’ Coalition for Public Service Broadcasting. She has submitted evidence to a variety of public bodies including Parliamentary Select Committees, the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, the BFI and Ofcom.
