VLV welcomes a future for television free at the point of use
VLV is delighted to announce that thanks to the campaigning of VLV and other organisations, the November World Radio Conference decided to allocate sufficient spectrum to European broadcasters until the year 2023 to ensure the future of free-to-air television for at least the next 8 years. This allows some security for viewers and also a safer investment environment for the future of digital TV.
Free-to-view television reaches us via the airwaves. At present, in Britain, some half to three quarters of homes rely on these services. But - without the allocation of suitable spectrum frequencies - services like Freeview and BBC broadcasting would have to close and find other, probably more costly ways of reaching audiences.
