Read the official VLV Press Release

Children's broadcasting is changing fast. But are the needs and interests of children and society being adequately provided for in today's multi-channel and digital media landscape? Or are children increasingly at risk from a media landscape dominated by the commercial imperatives of advertising and profit?

Confirmed speakers include: Alison Sharman, Head of CBBC; Estelle Hughes, Head of CITV; Professor Al Aynsley-Green, Children's Commissioner for England;Jonathan Drori, Director Culture Online, DCMS.

Key sessions to include:

  • Watching the Box - what are children really watching
  • The Missing Programmes - why are there so few programmes for teenagers and why are genres including factual and arts underserved
  • What's so great about Television? - we ask key players in broadband, interactive games and digital radio if they can provide a real alternative to television
  • The Way Ahead - in an increasingly market driven broadcasting environment, how can those concerned about the quality of children's broadcasting help shape the future?
