Consultations

One of the major areas of VLV's work is to respond to public consultations on broadcasting held by government, regulators and broadcasters. Since 1984, VLV has responded to all major public consultations, and has made the case for public service broadcasting.

VLV has submitted written evidence to the following consultations:

VLV Chair, Jocelyn Hay, was invited to give oral evidence to the House of Commons Select Commttee on Analogue Swithch-off on 8th November.  She appeared before the House of Lords Select Committee on BBC Charter Review in July and was invited to give further evidence to the second stage of the Committee's inquiry on 24th January 2006.

Recent Consultations

1.  VLV Responds to Ofcom Consultation on Television Advertising of Food and Drink Products to Children

On March 28 2006, Ofcom published its consultation setting out three options for new restrictions on television advertising of food and drink products to children. There was also an open invitation to all parties to propose a fourth option as an alternative common position, if one could be identified and agreed.
