21st Anniversary Appeal
Lord Puttnam of Queensgate launched Voice of the Listener & Viewer's 21st anniversary year Appeal.
The Appeal ran from July 2004 to July 2005, incorporating VLV's actual 21st birthday on November 14th, 2004. More than £30,000 for VLV and its related charity, The Voice of the Listener Trust, has been raised. We are most grateful to all those who contributed to the success of the Appeal.
Lord Puttnam, who is the Patron of the Appeal, said:
"The arrival of satellite, cable and multi-channel television, and of a range of new digital communication services, together with new forms of regulation, particularly Ofcom, have greatly increased the need for VLV's work. Add to that the demands of the current review of the BBC's Charter, as well as digital switchover, and VLV's workload has more than doubled over the past two years."
"To ensure that VLV has the resources to meet current and future challenges, we are aiming to raise the equivalent of £75,000 a year over the next three years. Part of the money will be raised at a variety of fundraising events, and from grant making trusts."
"However, I am also asking VLV's many members and supporters to be as generous as they can with donations to this appeal. As this is VLV's 21st anniversary, I would be delighted if every VLV member and supporter could give at least a pound for every year of VLV's existence, in other words, a minimum of £21 to the Appeal."
