Euralva - The European Alliance of Listeners' and Viewers' Associations

EURALVA, founded during VLV's 3rd international conference in 1996, represents the interest of listeners and viewers of broadcasting services and works to maintain the principle of public service in broadcasting.

Voice of the Listener & Viewer (VLV) has campaigned actively at European level since 1993 on the future of Public Service Broadcasting and held its first international conference in London in 1993. As a direct result of this conference, VLV was instrumental in the formation of EURALVA.

EURALVA now has member organisation in Denmark, Finland, Germany, Norway, Portugal, Spain and the UK and associates in Australia and Canada.

EURALVA's President is Jocelyn Hay CBE, Chair of the Voice of the Listener and Viewer (UK).  The Group Secretary is Preben Sørensen.

VLV was instrumental in the European Commission and Council of Europe decisions to involve citizen and consumer groups in their hearings and public consultations.  VLV chairman and committee members have given evidence to the Council of Europe hearings for the media several times since 1993.
