VLV 2008 Awards for Excellence in Broadcasting

  Voice of the Listener and Viewer 2007 Awards were presented at the VLV Spring Conference,  26 April 2009 by  Sarah Montague who presents BBC Radio 4's Today programme

 

Best Radio Programme or Programme Series

Nominees were BBC Radio 4 'A Point of View'; 'Money Box'; 'News Quiz'; 'Saturday Live'; 'The Food Programme'; 'Woman's Hour'.  The winner was the 'Money Box'.

Best Radio New Programme or Programme Series

Nominees were 'American Empire of Liberty'; 'Beyond Relief'; 'Last Word'; 'More or Less'; 'The Bottom Line'; 'World on the Move'- all from BBC Radio 4. The winner was 'American Empire of Liberty'.

Best Individual Radio Contributor

Nominees were Evan Davis, Andrew Marr, Jenni Murray, Edward Stourton, Sandy Toksvig, Kirsty Young.  The winner was Edward Stourton.

  

Best TV Programme or Programme Series

Nominees were Antiques Road Show - BBC 1; Bremner, Bird & Fortune - Channel 4; Channel 4 News; Gavin & Stacey - BBC1; Natural World - BBC2; Strictly Come Dancing - BBC1.   The winner was 'Natural World' (BBC2).

 

Best New TV Programme or Programme Series

Nominees were 'Around the World in 80 Gardens' - BBC2; 'House of Saddam' - BBC2; Larkrise to 'Candleford' - BBC1; 'Little Dorrit' - BBC1; 'Outnumbered' - BBC1; 'Simon Schama - American History' - BBC2.   The winner was 'Little Dorrit' (BBC1).

Best Children's TV Programme

Nominees were 'Blue Peter' (BBC1/CBBC); 'In the Night Garden' - cbeebies; 'Newsround' - CBBC; 'Roman Mysteries' - CBBC; 'Something Special' - cbeebies; 'Thomas the Tank Engine' - Channel 5.. The winner was 'Newsround' (CBBC).

Best Individual TV Contributor

Nominees were: David Attenborough; Evan Davies; Monty Don; Bruce Forsyth; Robert Peston, Neil Oliver.  The winner was Evan Davies.

Awards 2008 30 April 2009

VLV Special Awards

Leslie Burrage, Chief Executive of Roberts Radio, presented a Special VLV Radio Award, sponsored by Roberts, to Lindsey Mack, BBC, for her contribution towards the development of DAB Radio.  Phil Grabsky, cinema and TV film-maker for his art hisotry programmes on C5 received VLV's Special Award for Educational Broadcasting which was presented in memory of the distinguished educator and VLV Board member Naomi Sargeant. 

The Awards were organised by Carol Cattley- one of the Board Members of the Voice of the Listener & Viewer. VLV's awards are sponsored by VLV's sister charity, The Voice of the Listener Trust.
