The morning session considered the future for regional television. VLV Awards for Excellence in Broadcasting 2001, sponsored by The Voice of the Listener

‘The Future for the Regions’ with Roger Laughton, Head, Bournemouth School of Media. Arts & Communications; Olwen Hocking, Head of Regional & Local Programmes, BBC North East & Cumbria; Professor Sylvia Harvey, Centre for Film & Television Studies, Sheffield Hallam University.

13.45pm: 
Michael Buerk presented the 2001 VLV Awards for Excellence in Broadcasting.
Sponsored by the Voice of the Listener Trust.

15.00pm: 
The Future Role and Governance of the BBC: with Gavyn Davies, BBC Chairman and 
Jocelyn Hay, VLV chairman in the chair.
